BDARS BBQ Bonanza – A Sizzling Success (With Extra Thanks to Martin & Eddie!)
A heartfelt thank-you to all the volunteers who helped out at the Bunnings BBQ today – our second fundraising BBQ for the year.
Events like this wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of Bunnings and the incredible support from our volunteers. Their efforts help keep the club running strong, funding our activities and maintaining our infrastructure. They are vital.
The roll of honor for giving back to the club by their participation goes to our familiar team:-
Clive VK4BWD, Steve VK4JSS, John VK4JBE, Dennis VK4DWN, John Paul VK4JPW, Graham VK4GRK, Noel VK4NAF and Shirley, Ross, VK4SRS, and of course President Martin VK4MCU and Eddie VK4TJE who were working for all three shifts!
As a small token of appreciation, all volunteers’ names will be entered into a draw, and the lucky winner will receive a Bunnings voucher.
Although we managed to fill every position on the day, it wasn’t without a little creative staffing. Clive VK4BWD heroically volunteered for two shifts, while Martin (our fearless Paymaster on the cash register) and Eddie (our ever-reliable Gopher/Runner) decided that Sunday sleep-ins were overrated and worked all three shifts. We’d rather not make this the official roster template next time!
So here’s a gentle nudge (with a sausage in one hand): our BBQs only happen about three times a year, and if a few more members volunteered for just one shift each, everyone would get a chance to enjoy the day without earning “Employee of the Month” honours. It’s a fun, social few hours, you get to meet fellow members, and where else can you discuss antennas, DX contacts, and the correct way to cook onions while flipping sausages?
However, if you couldn’t make it on the day but would still like to lend a hand, a small donation towards the fundraiser would be warmly appreciated. Every dollar helps support the club—and unlike Martin, Clive, and Eddie, your wallet only has to work one shift!
