The club’s next Technight/Social Meeting is at the Redlands Coast Museum on Monday 18th August, with a 7:00PM arrival for a 7:30PM start. All members and visitors are welcome.
At the meeting you can also hear a quick update on the latest club news.
Don’t Miss This Month’s Feature Presentation: “Electromagnetic Emission Environment” presented by none other than our Vice President John VK4JBE, a seasoned expert with decades of experience in the telecommunications industry.
Electromagnetic Emission Environment

Why should you care? Well, think 5G debates, cell tower controversies, and our own recent experience with the 1kW amateur transmitter power approval—where, arguably, the demonstration of inadequate understanding and practice about EME unfortunately worked against us. As amateur radio operators, it’s more important than ever that we stay informed, compliant, and confident when it comes to managing our transmitters.
John will break down the technicalities, cut through the noise, and give us the real story—along with insights into the latest WIA initiatives on this front. Whether you’re a newcomer or a seasoned ham, this is a talk you won’t want to miss.
Come for the knowledge, stay for the discussion—and let’s sharpen our edge as informed, responsible Amateur Radio Operators.
As always, if you are thinking you might be able to help the club with an activity, or have an idea you’d like to discuss, why not have a word with one of the committee members to find out more about how you can get involved?
We would also still welcome volunteers specifically interested in assisting/running or helping to improve the video/audio streaming of the meetings: please email Martin: president@bdars.org.au
Tech/Social meetings are always a good place to catch-up on club activities, hear about the future plans for the club, and of course share the gold coin coffee and chinwag afterwards.
