Maker Group meet

The Maker Group is starting a new topic on Wednesday afternoon: A ‘How-to’ on 3D Printers and 3D CAD design. You’re invited – Wednesday 6th August 1:30PM

Having a 3D Printing capability is very useful in our hobby as it lets us design and make things like instrument panels, spacers and antenna parts that we couldn’t necessarily buy off-the-shelf.

The session will be run by David VK4ZF and the topic is expected to run for two or three Maker meetings. At the end of the topic it is expected that participants will better understand the choices available for 3D printing and have a basic capability to use 3D CAD to design some of their own components.

The CAD system introduction and training will focus upon the Fusion 360® system by Autodesk®, however the principles learned will be valuable if you decide to use another CAD system later on. This CAD system presently has a version that can be used at no cost to eligible users – so you will should be able to continue with experimenting with it at home.

As usual, our Victoria Point clubhouse will be used for the venue and we have room for up to about ten participants. We have cold drinks in the fridge and coffee and tea on tap. There is the Sharks Club almost across the road, so you can get your lunch prior to the session if required!

Please let David know directly if you plan to attend or alternatively send an email to secretary@bdars.org.au

The presentation slides will be made available on the BDARS Discord server for members that can’t make it.

The clubhouse is at 314 Colburn Ave, Victoria Point QLD 4165, (next to Meals-on-Wheels). Parking is outside the building or in the Park’s car park just prior to our turning.
