The Bayside and Districts Amateur Radio Society (BDARS) participated in the Open Day at the Redlands Coast Museum on Saturday 29th March 2025. The main aim of the Redlands Coast Museum Open day was to relaunch the Museum with a new logo and with a new aim to promote the museum as tourist attraction in the lead up to 2032 Olympics. They also want to promote the museum as a focus point for community groups. BDARS was one of three community groups that were in attendance.
The BDARS display included live HF signals via an online SDR, a CubeSat display including a full-size CubeSat, a Satellite Ground station showing signals from various satellites including the ISS, a DV Hotspot display with live signals and a number of contacts as well as some traditional amateur radios.

There was quite a bit of interest from the public. In addition to the displays a number of people were interested in the current Makers Raspberry Pi GPIO Python project. The members also had some good discussions with the Mayor and a couple of Councillors. They were very interested in the range of activities that the club is involved in.
The displays were manned by Eddie VK4TJE, JP VK4JPW, Mark VK4XYZ and John VK4JBE with a quick visit from Phil VK4PG. A big ‘thank you’ to them and any other members that supported the team on the day!
