We had a great time with the BDARS Makers SIG meeting down at the
Victoria Point Club house yesterday afternoon. John VK4JBE led the session, which was a hands-on introduction to programming the Raspberry Pi Input/Output system using the Python programming language. All the tables were occupied, so we were nearly full!
John did a brief intro to Python and focused on the main bits that we would be using for this project. The Instant Python cheat sheet that John wrote is now included in the ZIP file available on our BDARS Discord server.
But first, we set up our Raspberry PI’s and connected screens, keyboards and
power supplies. We also connected some LEDs to the GPIO bus ready for
programming. The diagram showing the connection is included in the ZIP
file.
Next we burned Raspberry Pi OS images on to micro-SD cards using RPI
Imager and fired up our RPI’s.
While there, we welcomed a visit from Mark VK4XYZ who popped down to see what were doing. After seeing the activity, Mark hopes to join in our future sessions!
