BDARS BBQ Bonanza – Another Sizzling Success
Yesterday, members of our club came together at Bunnings Capalaba to fire up the grill and our fundraising spirit for another fantastic BBQ event.
Thanks to the incredible support of our local community, the team at Bunnings Capalaba, and a steady stream of hungry shoppers, the day was a great success. Every sausage served helps keep BDARS running—supporting our equipment, maintaining our repeaters, and ensuring our events continue well into the future.
A special shout-out goes to our BBQ heroes, Martin and Eddie, who went above and beyond by covering all three shifts. With a limited number of volunteers available, their dedication kept everything running smoothly from start to finish.Of course it didn’t stop there for them; with the stock acquisition and preparation followed by the cleaning and returning items to our store afterwards – its a multi-day operation.
Even for those who could only make one of the three shifts, we’re sure everyone headed home carrying that familiar blend of onions and dedication—along with a well-earned sense of pride and a smile from supporting the club.
While it might not always be obvious, fundraising events like these are essential to the survival and growth of not-for-profit organisations like BDARS. They help cover ongoing costs such as Mt Cotton site electricity, repeaters, equipment upgrades, and insurance. Without this support, quite simply, we wouldn’t be able to keep the airwaves active.
We understand that not everyone can contribute their time for many reasons including health etc, and we truly appreciate those who support the club in other ways, including in-kind contributions and donations.

We typically run three BBQ fundraisers each year, and we’d love to see more members get involved next time. It’s a fun, social way to give back—and where else can you combine turning sausages with talking radio in the same shift?
For those unable to attend but still wishing to contribute, individual donations toward supporting our fundraising efforts are always welcome.
Thank you once again to everyone who volunteered their time, stopped by for a bite, or simply waved their support throughout the day. Your generosity and community spirit mean a great deal to the club—we truly appreciate you giving back to the club.
