The club’s next Technight/Social Meeting is at the Redlands Coast Museum on Monday 17th November, with a 7:00PM arrival for a 7:30PM start. All members and visitors are welcome.
At the meeting you can also hear a quick update on the latest club news.
Don’t Miss This Month’s Feature Presentation: “Git and Github” presented by our own BDARS member Shawn VK4SLM.

Whether you’re diving into new software for your radio setup or managing your own Amateur Radio projects, you’ve likely already encountered GitHub. But how do you make the most of it? Join Shawn VK4SLM, a seasoned pro with extensive experience in software and cloud infrastructure, for an informative and hands-on session tailored specifically to our hobby.
In this presentation, Shawn will guide us through the essentials of Git and GitHub—explaining what they are, how they work, and how they can be useful for Amateur Radio operators. He’ll show how these tools can help you manage your projects, keep track of updates, and never lose that best Codeplug or Repeater List you spent hours putting together!
You’ll get an overview of basic commands and software, plus a live demo to help you understand how these tools can simplify your tasks. If you’ve ever been confused about which version of a file you were last working on, or struggled to collaborate with others on shared projects, Git and GitHub can be the perfect solution.
By the end of this session, you’ll know exactly how to use Git and GitHub—whether for solo or group projects—and how they can streamline your workflow in the world of Amateur Radio.
Come along, and bring your questions! Whether you’re a beginner or just looking to level up your skills, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
As always, if you are thinking you might be able to help the club with an activity, or have an idea you’d like to discuss, why not have a word with one of the committee members to find out more about how you can get involved?
We would also still welcome volunteers specifically interested in assisting/running or helping to improve the video/audio streaming of the meetings: please email Martin: president@bdars.org.au
Tech/Social meetings are always a good place to catch-up on club activities, hear about the future plans for the club, and of course share the gold coin coffee and chinwag afterwards.
